Your Dream Itinerary for 2 Days in Kauai
Sometimes, when island-hopping, you only have a couple of days to explore. We’ll help you uncover the special moments to make connections with each other and with the beautiful island of Kauai, with the idyllic Koa Kea Resort as your luxurious homebase.
Day 1:
Westside of the island Waimea Canyons
Known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, this 14-mile canyon offers breathtaking panoramas at every turn. Hike along paved paths through botanical gardens to the stunning Waimea Falls (where you can take a dip together) or simply take in the sights at the drive-up lookouts and enjoy the Garden Isle’s most scenic treasures.
Lunch at Pakala Village
After a morning exploring Waimea Canyons, stop at the seaside Waimea village for Hawaiian specialties and options from around the world. Choose from pulled pork with pineapple sauce at Porky’s, a Kauna fish taco from Tiki Tacos, Hawaiian-Korean fusion at Hokus Food Truck and more - then finish it off with a cool treat from JoJo’s Shave Ice.
Kipu Ranch Adventure
Treat yourselves to an exciting way to discover Kauai’s history, ecology, and Hawaiian legends while you bond over a fun-filled activity. Zoom through the rainforest and lush green pastures to scenic spots - including a private waterfall. Wild pigs, pheasants, cattle, peacocks, and wild chickens share the 3,000-acre trail system on a privately owned cattle ranch.
Private Oceanfront Dinner for Two
Connect over a romantic dinner in your private oceanfront dinner cabana for two right here at Ko’a Kea Resort. Watch the sunset over the sparkling waves as you savor a six-course menu by Red Salt's acclaimed Chef Noelani. Your personal attendant will take care of all of your needs. Helpful tip: Book in advance - there is only one dinner cabana available to reserve at the resort and this premium experience is not one to miss.
Day 2:
Gourmet Hawaiian Breakfast
Greet the day with an unforgettable meal that brings the very best of Hawaii’s flavors to your breakfast table. Enjoy a signature Lobster Benedict with Kona lobster, Kamuela tomato, ripe avocado, and mango-chive hollandaise on an English muffin. Pair it with a breakfast cocktail, mango mimosa, or with a fresh cup of our signature coffee: a blend of local beans found only at Ko’a Kea.
Unforgettable Helicopter Trip
Get ready for an adventure! Take to the skies with a helicopter trip over Kauai’s most dramatic sights and see the Hanapepe Valley, Na Pali Coast and Mount Waialeale from above. Sweep your sweetie away to a remote waterfall or secluded beach for the perfect proposal, or for an extra thrill, strap on your seatbelt and select a doors-off flight.
Picnic Lunch & Afternoon Relaxation at Haena Beach
Savor a picnic lunch in paradise surrounded by the beautiful mountains, golden sand, and shimmering waters of Haena Beach. After a break, wade into the sea to discover Kauai’s top snorkeling spot. Try to spot the colorful and elusive humuhumunukunukuapua'a - Hawaii’s colorful state fish. Adventurers will follow the Kalalau Trail to the secluded valley beyond, but many opt to simply stroll on the boardwalk or laze in the sunshine and take in the magnificent scenery.
Sunset Dinner Cruise
Hop aboard the Blue Dolphin Charters’ 65-foot catamarans to cruise past the spellbinding Na Pali Coastline, spot dolphins in the crystal clear waters, clink mai-tais, and savor a delicious luau-style buffet as the sun sets over the horizon.
Laid-Back Nightlife
End the night by visiting the small fairs at Princeville and Hanalei. From fire shows to night markets, to concerts and more, evening entertainment awaits. Shop from the local vendors, or stop in the many restaurants for a drink or evening snack. Our favorite: Tiki Iniki’s for its authentic tiki decor, hand-crafted Hawaiian cocktails, and bao buns that melt in your mouth.
